• Changes to the SAGA Spell System •

23 October 2008

In order to increase the usefulness and enjoyment of spells, SAGA is going to change how spells work. In general, spells will receive a slight increase in power and usefulness; most will have their warm-up times significantly decreased or removed altogether. A few spells will have their starting CP cost reduced and/or obtain more ranks.

The CP cost for using spells at a higher rank will be 2 CP per level (it used to be 5 CP per rank, was changed to 1 CP per rank for a week, and is now at 2 CP per rank). This particular change has already occurred and is on the live servers to help players begin building their army based on the upcoming changes.

Finally, each spell unit will be changed to be a single-use-per-battle. This means you can deploy a spell and cast it, consuming the spell unit, and it will no longer be available for use in that battle. The spell unit will never "die" and will not need to be resurrected, and will be available for immediate use in any subsequent battles or quests.

Spells will still be subject to the usual unit rules. Spells will cost God Favor to cast. Spell units will be limited to 3 of the same type active on the field at any given time. Spells will use up CP in the nation's army and use a unit slot, so you cannot have more than your nation's CP worth of units or more than 40 units in any specific army.

We anticipate these changes in full to be included in patch 1.45, slated for release on November 5th.
