• Patch 125.7 Live! •

7 September 2007

This patch is an intermediate patch in preparation for the more complete patch we've been working on. There are some known issues and potentials for new temporary problems such as:

Leaving battles may take a long time - your game has most likely not crashed. This can take up to 2 minutes on some machines.

There are a few instances of market crashes we haven't fully resolved yet which will be resolved when the remaining code is added.

Some pathing issues have been generated by the partial code. We hope this is less apparent on the live servers than on our internal builds. Please recognize it is only temporary. We are making strides in the pathing which we hope to push up next update.

Tweaks and Feature Updates

* Implemented a new rendering system which will allow significant improvements over time to the graphics and performance (some players will already see significant improvements).

* Adjusted the selection of units making it easier to grab and target units on the field.

* Unit moves will now give feedback on where they are going (this will be graphically improved...but at least it is now visible).

* Each players 4 shrines now have purpose - protect yours or you will be defeated in battle (not yet fully tested).

* Added free-camera control. Hold control and move your mouse or hold the middle mouse button.

* added a distance fog to help with frame rates and make free cam more reasonable.

* Prices in the item shop have been adjusted.

* Flags flash red instead of transparent (and flash properly).

* Improved the way units are rendered

* Adjusted the morale system. Broken units will no longer dissappear but instead will attempt to find a safe have where they can restore their morale. While broken they may only be retreated off the field. Once their morale hits 33 (1/3 of the bar) they will regain their combat capabilities.

* New quest system bones are now in place. If any quests do not complete properly please report the quest name on the forums!

* Espionage and War screens are now on the same page (upcoming feature preparation).

* Tweaked the standing army bonus, so now the resources only go towards units and not spells.

* Hotkeys can now be seen in the options menu. They will soon be editable.

* A large number of other changes not yet fully visible to players. Should come over the next few patches.

Bug and Crash Fixes

* Resolved a major multiplayer crash bug which was the culprit causing most 4 player battles to crash out.

* Passive ability bonuses are now using percentages (of base) rather than whole integers. This means human archer bonuses against dragons are now properly being applied as well as numerous other passive bonuses.

* Fixed a bug with one-bit-alpha textures that have a diffuse alpha (sorting issues remain).

* Fixed a territory gaining bug.

* Status screen is now smarter in the way it manages itself (no visible changes to players).

* Fixed a bug in battle mode when you dont have units out during the game you would become stuck on the reserves tab.

* Various other major and minor bugs which don't need to be listed.

Balance Changes

Only minor tweaks and changes - not many if any for this update. Balance will begin again after the AR/DR fix coming in the upcoming patch.
