A day in SAGA is equivalent to a day in real life (24 hours).

And no, the resources that you gain (shown on the status screen) are added throughout the day in small increments.

The increments take place in 15 minute "ticks", at each tick you'll receive a small portion of your resources (To find out what that amount is, take the daily production of your resource, divide it by 96).
